   There certainly is need for it, last time I used songbird it caused a massive increase in the number of syscalls reported in top; up from ~600 at idle to over 6000, and initially over 17000 As a comparison Rhythmbox increases to ~1500 and initially reaches ~6000.

   There are some optimizations waiting to happen
