Never blame on alcohol what you can blame on bad food. However, your story reminds me of my last flight back from Mexico. My wife and I had avoided the water all week and had completely escaped all ill effects (or so I thought).

Last day there with two hours before we had to board the plane. We decided to get breakfast. I should not have eaten the runny eggs. Bad, bad, bad mistake. I spent the entire time on the first four hour flight (with the exception of 10 minutes) holed up in the airplane bathroom. I both landed and took off on the toilet. No joking matter at all.

There seems to be a lot of it going around. It hit me on Friday evening, and although I didn't throw up, my gut was running full tilt and I had a fever of 101F. And then I thought to myself, "I'm going to India next week, and I've always prepared for something like this happening to me while travelling. OK, what would I do if I was in India?" And the answer was clear: Cipro for the bug, Solpadeine for the fever and to help me sleep, and plenty of liquids. Touch wood, it's cleared up, and I'm ready to fly tomorrow.
