rtorrent (& libtorrent (& libsigc++)) packages for Solaris
Monday, Aug 27. 2007 – Category: OpenSolaris
with many thanks to Thomas B for pointing me at the patch I needed, I was able to fix my rtorrent packages. You can grab the package here which contains the SFWrtorrent, SFWsigc++, and SFWtorrent packages.
clarification: the above .pkg contains ALL 3 packages (for rtorrent, libsigc++ and libtorrent), so it should be all you need. it’s an x86 package only.
updated: 2008 may 8th: I’ve built new packages… you should go grab the new ones instead

I’m running Opensolaris (SunOS ZFS 5.11 snv_81 i86pc i386 i86pc )
How do I install these packages? pkgadd -d doesn’t work..
Any hints would be greatly appreciated, since I’m having trouble building everything myself..
Thanks, Joe Esposito

pkgadd -d doesn’t work how? You don’t have the pkgadd command available? It should be in /usr/sbin
April 16th, 2008 at 10:14
I have it available, and have used it before..
-bash-3.2# ls rtorrent.tar.bz2 SFWrtorrent SFWsigc++ SFWtorrent -bash-3.2# pwd /export/home/esposj/Build/Packages -bash-3.2# /opt/csw/ -bash-3.2# /usr/sbin/pkgadd -d SFWsigc++/ pkgadd: ERROR: no packages were found in -bash-3.2# ls SFWsigc++/ install pkginfo pkgmap reloc -bash-3.2#April 16th, 2008 at 10:15
</pre

You need to ‘pkgadd -d .’ from the directory where the SFWrtorrent SFWsigc++ and SFWtorrent subdirectories are.
April 16th, 2008 at 10:25
heh. That worked. Thanks! Guess I didn’t totally understand pkgadd after all.

Thanks, Stephen!
Are you planning to produce package with XMLRPC support? It could be cool to let GUI work.
April 27th, 2008 at 18:15
@Roman: Hadn’t planned on it since I only use rtorrent from screen…
