You go on automatic and the shift is immediate. &quot;Thinking&quot; is too slow to even consider. Perhaps that&#039;s evolution at work, I don&#039;t know. I had a situation long ago that gave me small taste of this process: http://blogs.sun.com/jimgris/entry/tony There was more time to react than this mother had, of course, but at least it gave me a flavor of what happens when confronted with an impossible situation.&lt;/p&gt;
