comment subscription

i’ve found the comment subscription on b.s.c to be a nice feature and just added a wordpress plugin to do the same.

let me know if it works or doesn’t work for you so i have some idea.

i’ve just been replaced by a shell script

someone wanna buy me this shirt?

;-)

i just replaced myself with a very small, bad, and (if you’ve been following the whole ksh debate on osol-discuss) non-ksh88-compliant shell script… namely, i can now do an entire delivery for a platform from start to finish like so:

# /home/stevel/ws/tonic/deliver.sh -a1

completely automated. start to finish. this is all possible thanks to kupfer’s work on the split-gate. i’m really stoked about this because it basically eliminates a big part of the work i was doing: manually putting together every single delivery.

so this has a couple noticable benefits: 1. it frees me up to work on other things (like my next task: packaging-tools source code cleanup) 2. deliveries can now be automated completely by a cron-job resulting in more frequent source/bfu deliveries

and yes, i do plan on fixing up the script to make it ksh88 compliant, since i’ve had it pointed out to me in the past that bash is the evil spawn of satan.

back from vacation

Thursday, Jan 12. 2006  –  Category: Musings, OpenSolaris

i’m back from vacation (in Thailand & Malaysia), and am working remotely in Taiwan for the next couple of weeks. damn the Taipei office is cold. should have worn something warmer to work…

anyway, here’s a list of what i’m working on now (not in any necessary order):

  • cleanup and ready the source for the packaging tools
  • nightly automated source/BFU archives/closed-binaries deliveries
  • Teamware->SVN bridge
  • build 31 delivery

i also need to push the build 30 sources to the source browser at some point today.

i think the Teamware->SVN bridge seems to be mostly working. i left it running while i was gone on vacation and aside from a improperly-escaped double-quotation mark (doh!) i think it processed all the ON putbacks properly during that time (need to do some more in-depth verification on this first).
