The motive is indirectly for their own benefit since more engineers/scientists works in IBM's favour. The students they (the ex-IBMers) teach are the future job-pool for IBM. But at the same time, it's doing a good deed for everyone since EVERYONE can benefit from having more teachers, not just IBM.</p> Well, I can understand your (Anonymous) point of view - but the truth of the matter is the number of math/science teachers is dwindling each year.
