my, what a stressful life
Friday, Apr 22. 2005 – Category: Pets
I just got back from a lunch-time walk with Isis around our neighbourhood, whereupon she walked into the kitchen and pointedly sat and stared at the cabinet where I keep her treats.
I walked in, put her leash away and sat on the couch to eat some lunch and watch the morning news courtesy of Tivo before heading back up to the study (I love working from home).
She ran over, got my attention by putting her paws on my lap, and then ran back to the kitchen and pointedly sat and stared at the cabinet again (I’ve been teaching her to sit before I give her any treats, and she’s starting to get the idea now).
So I finally went over and gave her a treat, which always cracks me up. She’s always so full of energy, she always tries to jump up and grab the treat out of my hand, but she’s starting to realise I won’t give it to her until she sits (and stays seated) and I bring the treat to her. So now she sits, furiously wiping our kitchen floor with her tail which is wagging like crazy, and you can see her visibly restraining herself and all of her energy (her butt twitches as she tries to stay seated)… all this for a doggie treat.
After lunch, we came back up to the study where she hopped up on the futon, walked around in a circle 7 times, and heaved a huge sigh, and then plopped herself down and is now lying upside down fast asleep.
What a tiring life she must lead…
