stuck in the blizzard

well that was an exciting weekend. we left to go to Reno/Tahoe Thursday evening at 5pm. Things were going well until we got stuck in traffic at 8pm up near Gold Run. We sat…and sat….and twiddled our thumbs…. and sat in a fun combination of blizzard and traffic some more…. until 2am, when CalTrans finally admitted defeat and closed I80, forcing us to spend the night in a rest stop. good times.

we woke up at 6:30am, hauled ass up to Reno and then slept most of the afternoon. after taking out our frustration and vengeance on the El Dorado buffet, we wandered around the casinos.

the next day we drove across 431 to Diamond Peak - which was probably some of the scariest driving i’ve ever done. fortunately we were following a large bright orange lifted Bronco, which made driving in the whiteout conditions easier.

we had a fun few hours of boarding, and Wendy finally got the hang of turning smoothly so she was able to move up to the intermediate runs.

all in all, that was a lot of time invested for only 3 hours of snowboarding. :-P

ahh…good old dumblings. for those of you not familiar, dumblings are the dumb chinese dumplings who never made it to college.

either that, or a funny misspelling at a local chinese restaurant.
